  • Education First- A rural empowerment initiative “Education First” by Shree Raj Educational Centre in association with United Nations & A World At School & United Nations to bring together everyone who shares the common belief that every child has the right to go to school, without danger and without discrimination. Education First is the only partnering NGO in India for this global campaign.

Activity

Since its inception, the Research Centre has undertaken socio-economic development of the most backward and undeveloped areas in and around Parli (Sudhagadh District) in the fields of Education, Public Health and Women Empowerment. This was initiated in view of the glaring cases of child-labor, early marriage of the girl child, tolerance to unhygienic surroundings and a dearth of education and employment avenues.

Shree Raj Educational Centre

When we started in 2003, young children were made to work in neighboring breweries. The situation of girl children was worse, where they had to take care of the entire house and their siblings to get trained and married off at a very young age. There was a lack of even basic Infrastructure & Facilities, let alone educational opportunities.

We started with a modest beginning of teaching a few children under a temporary shed under a tree. With support from well-wishers, today over 900 children are being educated at the school and their educational expenses including uniforms, books, educational kits, meals as well as transport are being provided for, through the Centre.

Shramik Naari Sangh

Empowerment Of Less-privileged Women

Undoubtedly, Women form the foundation for growth in society. One cannot undermine their contribution in harmoniously balancing the household needs. Initially the women at Parli were forced to pull out their children from school due to temporary job offer temptations. This finding brought the inception of SaNiSaviz.ShramikNaariSangh, a society devoted to economic empowerment of women. Rightly named, its brand “Chaakri” meaning ‘seva’ or 'service’ is involved in training and manufacturing of ‘home taste’ delicacies and Tiffin Services at Parli and in Mumbai. There are several like Megha whose lives have moved from that of being less-privileged to being empowered. As a spectator it is interesting to watch these women engage themselves totally in work while humming a common folk tune. Amidst all this, proper care is ensured to maintain quality and hygiene standards. Chaakri has come a long way and today proud to export its Khakhras to the USA.

‘Udaan’ the second brand under the society is a bridge between rural and urban creativity and mainly focuses on the upliftment of tribal women. The program trains women in making variety of handicraft products and taps their hidden talent.

Inspiring associates of SaNiSa family are young girls Prachi&Sneh. Prachi is a qualified Chocolatier from Le Cordon University, Australia who has set an example by launching ‘Divinite’ under the aegis of the society and employ needy women in packaging. The delectably delicious Divinite chocolates have become a favorite amongst the elite class.

Likewise, Puro brand is led by Niyati and Priyal, two young professionals who gave up their hi-profile corporate careers to set up a socio economic venture in aid of SaNiSa. Puro unit manufactures harmful chemical free bath and body products which have no harmful ingredient. This range of natural & handcrafted bath and body care products are made from 100% vegetarian ingredients and are cruelty free as they do not include animal by-products nor are they tested on animals..

SaNiSa’s products have already found their way to corporate and social gifting. To expand the reach and product range, it has already set the platform to encourage more likeminded women to associate withthe Society and take it to new heights. for formation of Self Help Groups around Parli and other cities.

Puro Body & Soul - This range of natural & handcrafted bath and body care products are made from 100% vegetarian ingredients and are cruelty free as they do not include animal by-products nor are they tested on animals.

  • Udaan

  • Udaan

Under brand Udaan, Sa-Ni-Sa manufactures elegant handicrafts and artifacts. Udaan is the result of Sa-Ni-Sa’s Employment Generation Program, especially for tribal women.

Udaan means flight in the Hindi language. In the true sense of the word, Udaan is an endeavor to develop the untapped craft skills of women and provide them with a means of earning their livelihood, thus giving them the wings and freedom to achieve their dreams.

Tribal women are usually poorer than rural village women, but their art and craft skills are known across the globe for their unique beauty and charm. Fully aware of this fact, Sa-Ni-Sa has focused on training them in handicrafts rather than food products.

The journey of Udaan has been a challenging one, since these women are most unwilling to think about their future. We commenced our employment generation program with training them in making Diyas. Every single aspect of the project, like arranging for raw material, infrastructure, training, manufacturing, logistics and marketing of the products has been a learning experience for us. The quick grasp, skill and talent of these tribal women encouraged us to expand the product range extensively and set up the first – ever Vocational Training Centre in Sudhagad, Maharashtra.

Today, Udaan boasts of a wide range of hand-made products such as paper bags, gift pouches, torans, pooja and wedding garlands, door strings, envelopes, jute bags, shoulder bags, mobile pouches, table mats, tea coasters, cushion covers, yoga and meditation mats, jewellery, keychains, candles, decorative lanterns, room fresheners, etc.

It gives us immense satisfaction that Udaan products are retailed at leading stores in India including The Bombay Store and Sapna Book House, one of the largest book houses in Asia. These products have also been received well by the corporate sector, under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, where regular exhibitions are held round the year. Key clients we have partnered with include Tata Interactive Systems, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Patni Computer Systems Ltd., Accenture, WNS Global Services Pvt. Ltd., Wipro India Ltd., ATOS Origin, NIIT, Reliance Mutual Fund, Merck Ltd., IDBI Gilts Ltd., JSW, The Leela, etc.

Udaan’s initial success has been augmented by a recent tie-up with ace fashion designer Kavita Modi. In collaboration with her design house, designer clothing and accessories is the latest addition to our line of products. Kurtis, Tunics, Purses and Handbags are designed by her and specially embellished by these tribal and under-privileged women. The new range has been widely accepted by leading boutiques and fashion stores in Mumbai.Theme-based designer paper bags, envelopes, gift tags, gift boxes and trousseau décor are also in the pipeline.

Shree Raj Roti Centre

Food Distribution Program

Many individuals, inspite of working hard to meet their daily expenses, cannot even afford a basic meal and are severely malnourished.

Shree Raj Roti Centre was initiated with an objective to help the ‘under privileged working-class’ individuals by serving them full meal, once a day. We believe that we can help by taking care of an individual’s basic requirement of life - ‘Food’.

Shree Raj Roti Centre is a food distribution program which serves healthy and nutritious food at a highly subsidized rate (token amount) of ₹10/- per meal.

Salient Features:

  • As on March 2022, we are operational at Mumbai in the following centres:

  - Mulund (11 years)

  - Borivali (7 years)

  - Matunga (6 years)

  - Ghatkopar (6 months)

  - and at Raigad - Parli village (3 months).

  • Nutritious and sattvic food is served on a daily basis to the genuinely needy beneficiaries, irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
  • Beneficiaries are identified/referred by various well-wishers residing around the distribution centres. To verify the genuineness of the registered beneficiaries, our Raj Sevaks in the verification team personally visit the residence of each beneficiary.
  • Each meal is a nutritious platter of healthy staples like rice, daal, pulses/vegetables and chapatis. Additionally, a fruit (banana) is distributed daily in all the Mumbai centres.
  • In addition to a regular meal, occasionally sweets and/or snacks are served as per the wish of donors (on their birthday, anniversary, or any other special day).
  • As per the feasibility, we also celebrate festive days, spiritually auspicious days, organize a visit to the Research Centre, tour various places in Mumbai followed by a special lunch and provide medical treatment to beneficiaries.
  • Meals are served in steel tiffins or takeaway parcels.
  • Adequate hygiene standards are maintained during handling and distribution of food.
  • More than 5,55,000 meals distributed in last 5 years.
  • Every day, over 525 beneficiaries are served nutritious and sattvic meals.
  • We are looking forward to setup similar centres in various other cities.

During the most critical time of COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to serving food parcels to our regular beneficiaries, we also distributed grocery kits and medical kits to the genuinely needy.
